all things womanhood, all things biblical

The beginning of the beginning. And so it begins. This portion, this subject, has been heavy in my spirit for some time. Intimacy, service, and worship. I cannot quite explain why I have so much to say about these things, but I do- and it’s in depths. My hope is to remain in modesty and authenticity. My hope is that my words would resonate with someone and in the same breath that it would point back to Jesus. There are many stories and poems to tell. welcome to all things: the ongoing essay.

intro.

Womanhood and the intimacy within marriage are my favorite aspects of my life. I love being a woman, and pursuing what womanhood is through God's word. I love being married and the spiritual benefits of marriage. I appreciate deeply the security that a Christ centered marriage provides.

Proverbs 31:10-31 is one of the most referenced scriptures on womanhood and the stance of a wife. I did a deep dive on this portion of scripture. It's a beautiful proverb and living it out takes discipline, intentionality, and wisdom. These are the words of  King Lemuel, which was taught to him by his mother.  Verse 11 says, "Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life."  The playful side of me giggles at this because an ongoing joke between David and I is that he doesn't trust me to not get pregnant, after 2 surprise pregnancies. In all seriousness, during this deep dive I made it my mission to actively apply these things and not leave it for a future to do list. I want to edify my household all the days of my life, starting right now.

Ephesians 5:22-33 and 1 Corinthians 7:1-16 breaks down the structure of a Spirit led marriage and the benefits of marriage. The beautiful natural order: Christ, the Husband, the Wife. The directions: "Wives, submit to your own husbands... Husbands, love your wives"  The instructions: "Do not deprive each other."

May I say, I love that God made way. I love His instructions for His people.

There is a beautiful distinction between man and woman. Husband and wife. Male and female. A clear distinction that could never be erased.

two years later.

Back in January of 2023 I started what I planned to be an essay collection on biblical womanhood and marriage, called “all things womanhood, all things biblical” - A lot was stirring in my heart at the time in regards to intimacy within marriage and worshiping in spirit and in truth. When I began to write, things became intense really fast and I knew I had to put this on hold. The stirs in my heart stemmed from convictions, gratitude, and the desire to promote generational, spiritual homestead living.

I was, and still am, very infatuated by my husband’s masculinity. With that, I am influenced in my God-given femininity.

I recall a cold Wednesday evening and I was about 28 weeks pregnant. David had steak for dinner, went to men’s Bible study at church, and then came home to lay in bed with his pregnant wife. He rubbed my belly  and caressed my body that carried his son, as he told me what he learned at Bible study. I remember feeling so blessed to share this intimate moment with my husband.

As these two years have gone by and as I type these words, the wait makes so much sense. There is so much to write about all things.
